摘要:Because of their application in the electronic and photovoltaic industries—in devices such as transistors and solar cells—the search for novel compound semiconductors and the improvement of existing materials is an important field of study in materials science. In this talk, we present our efforts on the materials design of novel compound semiconductors including high-mobility p-type amorphous semiconductors, bipolar semiconductors, and high-efficiency photovoltaic absorbers, by a combined experimental and density functional theory approach, with focus on the electronic structure and doping behavior. The materials systems investigated range from zinc pnictides, metal chalcogenides, to metal halide perovskites and double perovskites.

Zewen Xiao received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2015 under the supervision of Prof. Toshio Kamiya and Prof. Hideo Hosono. Then, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Yanfa Yan’s group at The University of Toledo, US, for a year. Currently, he is a Research Assistant Professor of Materials Research Center for Element Strategy at Tokyo Institute of Technology. He has published 30+ SCI papers, including 20+ first-author papers published in top journals including J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem., Adv. Energy Mater., Mater. Horiz., and J. Phys. Chem. Lett. Times of citations is over 550, with h-index 13. His current research interest focuses on first-principles simulation and design of functional materials including photovoltaic absorbers and inorganic electrides.
